Shaping Sustainable Futures (SSF) conference in Brussels

On the 6th of March 2025, NEBA was represented at the Shaping Sustainable Futures conference in Brussels. The joint conference was organised in collaboration and participation with several New European Bauhaus- focused European projects, namely NEBULA, CrAFt, AEGIR, INGUMA, Woodstock.

The event provided a platform to engage with the European Commission on the changing needs of the construction sector. It also highlighted key findings and results from these projects, offering their perspectives on the future of the New European Bauhaus and sustainable cities. Among other topics, the results and lessons learned were shared on:

  • How municipalities are adopting the New European Bauhaus,
  • The role of clusters in driving innovation for sustainable construction across Europe,
  • Making renovation more sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive,
  • Leveraging digital tools and education to implement the New European Bauhaus.

In the afternoon parallel session on Digital Tools and Education, Oliver Jancke from InnovaWood, presented the NEBA project and the open call. The subsequent roundtable conversations were co-facilitated by InnovaWood team, namely Vanessa Bano, Oliver Jancke, Vera Steckel and Uwe Kies, exploring the audience’s perspectives on:

  • Their views on the future of the construction sector in the EU
  • Their perception of wood and bio-based materials
  • The scenarios on wood and bio-based materials use in the future
