Urban Regeneration and Cultural Heritage Seminar
During the course, selected cases of revitalization of historic areas will be discussed and analyzed, with particular emphasis on examples from Poland and Europe involving the revitalization of historic city centers and post-industrial areas.
A detailed plan of the Seminar:
- Introduction to the urban regeneration and adaptive reuse problematics with special emphasis on sustainable and bio-based solutions and decarbonization of the built environment;
- Co-defining the list of topics for presentations;
- Presentation of students' essays on selected topics;.
- Discussion and formulation of the renovation wave guidelines.

Learning Objectives
- Ability to define problems of cultural heritage adaptive reuse, present the findings and critically evaluate them.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data on real-life examples of revitalisation and adaptive reuse of historical areas and buildings.
- Competence in presenting a complex issue in the field of sustainable regeneration in architecture and urban planning.
- Competence in using the experience gained during studies to make a critical analysis of the conditions and formulate conclusions for design in an interdisciplinary context.
- Skills in applying analytical methods to prepare the theoretical background and formulate guidelines in the form of a scientific study.
